11/20/2007 We don't mess around, bring on the knuckle boom!

Another HUGE thank you goes out to Andy and Logan of L.W.F. Metal Works. They really pulled through this time and dropped off a knuckle boom. This made stringing the mega tree a breeze.
Here is a picture of my roommate Brad up in the knuckle boom getting ready to start stringing some lights.

Here is an aerial shot I took of the tree from about 25 ft. up in the air. It's about a quarter of the way strung in this picture.

The scissor lift was dropped off today. It can reach 19 ft. in the air. Plenty of height to string our mega tree! Big thank you to L.W.F. Metal Works in Phoenix for letting us borrow the scissor lift for as long as we need.

We're almost done building the 12 mini trees. We came up with a really cool way to make them. We bought 3 ft. tall tomato cages from Home Depot and then wrapped them with chicken wire. We then wrapped the Christmas lights around the chicken wire. You can find out how to make them here.

11/13/2007 Let the building begin!

Let the building begin! We've been working on setting up this year's display for over a week now. The display will feature a 20 ft. mega tree. We cut down the tree in our front yard because it was dead, so we drilled a hole down the middle of the stump and stuck the pole for the mega tree inside.

We are also building 12 mini trees to line the perimeter of the yard. I'm also in the middle of sequencing Wizards in Winter for this year's display. So stay tuned as I add more content through out this year's build process and look forward to more how to's.
